Backyard beekeeping is possible

Everyone is perhaps not aware of this fact but keeping honey bees in ones backyard is something possible. Yes, there are certain actions that a beekeeper should take in order to do this activity. Providing that regulations where a person lives, allow beekeeping, let’s go with these 3 tips.

Tip 1: Source of Hydration

The first tips in this very short and topic focused version of my beekeeping guide is about water. Actually, even though honey bees can travel long distances to obtain materials they need, the beekeeper should provide a source of water to his/her bees.

Tip 2: The Fence

Another thing I wanted to mention about backyard beekeeping concerns the fence. A fence of at least 6 ft high should be raised around the hive. This fence could have for effect to hide the hive. Additionally, resulting from the fence, the honey bees could fly higher and the beehive could be more protected against certain strong winds.

Tip 3: Low Profile

Another tip is related to the hive. Effectively, painting the hive in a color that does not make it noticeable could also be useful in hiding the hive.

Tip 4: Neighbors

All neighbors might not be fine with the idea of living near a beekeeper. Consequently adopting certain actions that could help the neighbors change their mind could be advantageous. As a matter of fact, honey could be offered. Moreover, the beekeeper could invite his/her neighbors when he/she is confident about his skills. Everyone should be protected from bee’s stings.

Beekeeping Guide: Where to look for a beekeeping guide?

Are you looking for a beekeeping guide? If you are, in this article, I am planning to tell you about places where you could look for a beekeeping guide.

There are several places where a person could look for a guide to beekeeping. However, I find certain of the places I am going to mention riskier than one in particular.

One place that could be though about when looking for a book in particular, about beekeeping is a bookstore. If a person does not mind making the move to a store and then look for a book, then bookstores are places that could contain resources about beekeeping lessons in text format for example.

Online Bookstores

Places like Amazon or Barnes & Noble websites also could feature books about beekeeping. In fact, I personally prefer Amazon when it comes to getting physical books in general. Why do I prefer Amazon? I may be wrong because at this point I have used Amazon more than Barnes & Noble. Nonetheless, I find it easier to browse for books on Amazon. Additionally, there are sometimes a lot of reviews as well as ratings. The existence of several ratings for a single product could help make a choice.  Due to the customers feedback hat seems to be available on Amazon, I find it riskier to select a book there than at a local bookstore.

Beekeeping Websites

The last sources of beekeeping guides I had on my list are websites that concentrates on beekeeping. While there are many sites that appear to give information about beekeeping, If find it riskier to purchase a book from one of these sites. The reason for this is that it is possible that a person might not find the type of feedback that is presented on sites like Amazon.

3 Reasons To Get This Beekeeping Guide

As many of us are aware of, bees can hurt. As a result when one decides to have beekeeping as a hobby, knowing how to lower the chances of being stung can be a good move. However, beekeeping is not only about bees inflicting pain, because from this hobby, honey can be obtained. However, before a beekeeper gets to the point where he/she is able to collect honey, a beginner might be asking himself certain questions. One interrogation might be “Can I have a beehive when I live within a city?” Another question could be: “What about my neighbors, how to have them accept the idea that one or two beehives at proximity are not necessarily something dangerous?” One last question a novice might wonder about is: “Which beekeepers supplies should I have?” To these questions, you will find answers in my guide to beekeeping.

City Beekeeping

First of all, it is not always common to imagine about beekeeping within an urban area. This being, the ability to keep bees is not necessarily hindered because one lives within a city or town. In fact, there are ways to go about beekeeping without creating a lot of perturbation in the neighborhood a person lives in. In fact, it is possible to practice beekeeping in a backyard. Moreover, bee hives can also be installed on top of buildings.

Beekeeping and Neighbors

What about the neighbors? Will they be comfortable having they bees near their houses? If they are, show them that your bees are not likely to hurt them? As it can be imagined, the fact that bees can injure, could lead to think about their dwelling at proximity as a source of possible pain. In order to put off this fear, certain actions can be taken. These actions can go from putting up a fence, to having enough water for the bees in your backyard. You might also invite your neighbors to show them that there is not really a fear to have because of the bees. More ideas to counter neighbors’ apprehension are mentioned in my beekeeping guide.

Beekeeper Supply

What about beekeeping equipments? Which one should you have? What is their use? These are also questions that could be asked. Going in a store without a support to refer to for the equipment you might need might lead to spend more time to know what is really necessary if you do not find store manager willing to help you. How should you dress for beekeeping? Can you wear a short sleeves shirt? What about a long sleeve shirt without gloves?
